Digital Garden

Maggie Appleton describes a digital garden as: "something inbetween a personal blog and a wiki. It's a collection of evolving notes, essays, and ideas that aren't strictly organised by their publication date. They're inherently exploratory – posts are linked through contextual associations. They aren't refined or complete - posts can be published as half-finished thoughts that will grow and evolve over time. They're less rigid, less performative, and less perfect than the personal "blogs" we're used to encountering on the web."

This concept is also commonly refered to as Second Brain or Personal Wiki.

Tags

Every note is tagged with an emoji and text

Sprouts (🌱) are thoughts in their earliest stage.
Saplings (🌿) have substantial amount of content, but still need a lot of work. Coherence and patterns are just emerging in it.
Trees (🌲) are grown up coherent piece of thought/essay/expression that should not change much.
Maps (🗺): Maps of Content (MOC) are the index of a topic. They contain general information of the topic and allow easier navigation by linking related notes in an organized manner.
Writings (✍) are posts I intend to share deliberately, keeping a reader other than myself in mind. Think articles, guides, creative writings...
Lists (📃) are lists 🗿
Hearts (💖) are curated lists of favorites or important notes.
Text tags describe the topic of the note.

There are 2 ways to start exploring:

Notes are interconnected. The starting point is the Atlas
Using the file tree in the left.
The tree is ordered by relevance from top to bottom.
Some notes might not be snuggly organized inside a fitting folder but are reachable by notes that refence them. These notes go into the Void folder.
